Condemned

Condemned in Quaker minutes means a member formally condemned their own misconduct in writing, admitting the fault; it does not mean the meeting condemned the person.

The discipline asked offenders to clear the Society's name by acknowledging and condemning the offense in writing to the monthly meeting. A committee usually reported treated with satisfaction, and the member condemned the misconduct.

If the member would not condemn the fault, the meeting disowned them. A later condemnation could lead to reinstatement.
