Nones
The nones is a fixed day in the Roman calendar: the 7th of March, May, July and October and the 5th of other months.
The nones fell on the 7th day of March, May, July and October, and on the 5th of the other eight months. Days just before it were counted toward it, as in the day before the nones.
The same word also names a church prayer hour in the afternoon, so check that the text is giving a date.
As seen in a recordDate in a Latin memorial inscription
pridie Nonas Martii
