pridie

Pridie is Latin for "on the day before": natus pridie in a baptism entry means the child was born the day before the baptism.

Pridie means the day before. A baptism entry may say natus pridie, born the day before, so the birth date is one day before the date of the entry.

It can also appear before a date, as in pridie Kalendas, the day before the first of the month, an older style found in some church documents.

As seen in a recordBaptism entry in a Latin register
Die 5 Maii baptizatus est Joannes, natus pridie
