Dienstag
Dienstag is German for Tuesday; in a written-out date it comes first, as in Dienstag den 7. März.
Dienstag is Tuesday in standard German. Despite the look of the first syllable, the name does not come from Dienst (service); it spread from Low German and Dutch forms and replaced older southern names for the day.
German civil records from the 1870s on usually give the weekday together with the date and hour of a birth or death, which is a useful check when a number is smudged.
