Mittwoch
Mittwoch is German for Wednesday, literally "midweek"; it appears in German records when the weekday is written out.
Mittwoch means middle of the week. It is one of the German weekday names that does not look like its English counterpart, so it is worth memorizing along with Dienstag and Sonnabend.
Weekdays often appear in old records with the time of day, such as früh (early), mittags (at noon) or abends (in the evening), which can also help when a date is hard to read.
