Heumonat

Heumonat (also Heuert or Heuet) is an old German name for July, the month of haymaking.

Heu means hay, and July was the haymaking month. Older records in German may write den 5. Heumonat or den 5. Heuert instead of Juli, and Duden lists Heumonat as an outdated name for July.

Do not confuse it with Hornung, February, or with Herbstmonat, an old name for September. A date with an unfamiliar month name is worth checking against a list of old German month names.
