Sonnabend

Sonnabend and Samstag both mean Saturday; Sonnabend is the northern and eastern German word, Samstag the more common one elsewhere.

Sonnabend means the eve of Sunday. It is the usual word for Saturday in northern and eastern Germany, while Samstag is the dominant form everywhere else.

The word your ancestor's record uses can hint at the region it came from, but it is never proof by itself. Either way, the day is Saturday.
