Year of immigration
Year of immigration is a census column, asked in 1900 to 1930, giving the year a foreign-born person came to the United States.
The question was asked of every foreign-born person, male or female, of any age, in 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930. From 1910 the instructions said to give the year of first arrival if the person had come more than once. The 1900 census also asked the number of years in the United States.
Use the year to choose where to start in passenger lists, and compare the answers across censuses, since one person's entries may not agree.
As seen in a record1910 census, columns 15 and 16
