Year of naturalization
Year of naturalization is a 1920 census column giving the year a naturalized person's final papers were issued.
Only the 1920 census asked it. For everyone marked Na in the column before, the enumerator entered the year final papers of naturalization were issued. For people who became citizens through a parent's naturalization, the parent's year was to be entered.
The year narrows the search for a court record a great deal, though it may not match the court record exactly. A married woman was reported with her husband's citizenship, so the year shown for a wife may really be his.
