Italian words in old records · card M

marzo

Marzo is Italian for March, from Latin Martius; in an act it follows del mese di, as in addì tre del mese di marzo.

Marzo is March, from the Latin month Martius. In acts it usually follows the phrase del mese di, of the month of: addì tre del mese di marzo, on the third of March. The abbreviation is mar.

In cramped handwriting marzo and maggio, May, both begin with ma-, so look for the z or the double g. The days are usually written as cardinal numbers, so read tre as three, not third.
