dioecesis

Dioecesis is Latin for a diocese, the church district run by a bishop; the ablative dioecesi means in the diocese.

Dioecesis comes from a Greek word for internal administration. A diocese is the church district administered by a bishop. Late Latin also spelled it diocesis.

The BYU list of common phrases gives Diocesi as in the diocese, and records name the diocese beside the parish. Knowing the diocese tells you which bishop's archive to search for records about the parish.
