parochia

Parochia is Latin for "parish," the district served by one church; ex parochia means "from the parish of."

Parochia means parish. Marriage entries in particular note when a bride or groom came ex parochia, from another parish, which tells you where to look for that person's baptism and family.

The parish priest is often called the parochus. In English records the word is shortened to par.
