molitor

Molitor is Latin for a miller, the man who ran a mill and ground grain into flour; molitoris means of the miller.

Molitor is a post-classical Latin word for miller, from molo, to grind or mill. A different classical word with the same spelling, molitor with long vowels, meant someone who undertakes or attempts a task.

The genitive molitoris appears after a father's name in baptism entries. Pistor, an older word, could also mean miller, so a family may be called by either word.
