mortuus

Mortuus is Latin for "dead" or "having died": mortuus est means "he died."

Mortuus (feminine mortua) means dead and is used in phrases like mortuus est, he died, in death and burial registers.

It means much the same as defunctus and obiit. Note whether the date given is the death or the burial, because many entries give both.

Mortuus est 12 Martii, sepultus 14 Martii, Georgius Klein
