mulier

Mulier is Latin for a woman, and by extension a wife; mulieris means of the woman.

Mulier is the general Latin word for a woman. Dictionaries add the sense wife, so in some entries it plainly means the man's wife.

Read it beside the other words of the entry. Uxor is the usual word for wife. Wiktionary notes that mulier often marked a married woman in contrast to virgo, an unmarried young woman, though an older unmarried woman could also be called mulier.
