N.N.
N.N. in a church register stands for nomen nescio, name unknown: the writer did not know or chose not to give the name.
N.N. stands for the Latin nomen nescio, I do not know the name. A priest wrote it where a name should be, often for the father of an illegitimate child, a stranger buried in the parish, or a parent whose name he did not record.
It is not a person called N. N. Indexes sometimes treat it as a name, so search with and without it.
As seen in a recordParents in a Latin baptism entry
pater: N.N.; mater: Barbara Huber
