Latin in records · card N

nata

Nata is Latin for "born" when the child is a girl: nata 9 Junii means she was born on June 9.

Nata is the female form of natus. Latin changes the ending to match the person, so the ending alone tells you the child's sex even if the name is hard to read.

Registers often pair it with baptizata, the female form of baptized. In classical Latin nata can also mean daughter, so look at the sentence: followed by a date it means born, and followed by a parent's name it may mean daughter.
