Latin in records · card T

tutor

Tutor is Latin for a guardian, especially the legal guardian of a child under age; tutela means the guardianship itself.

Tutor means protector and, in law, the guardian of a minor. Tutela is the guardianship. The word can also mean a tutor in the modern sense, but beside a minor's name it means the guardian.

A guardian may be named when a minor marries or inherits. If the entry also gives the guardian's relationship, such as patruus (father's brother), it hands you another member of the family.
