Brewster

A brewster was a brewer; the word first meant a woman who brewed and later, in Scotland, a brewer of either sex.

Wiktionary gives brewster as an archaic word for a female brewer and, in Britain and Scotland, for a brewer of either sex.

As an English occupational surname Brewster indicated a woman involved in brewing. The word is built like baxter, an old word for a baker formed from bake plus the ending -ster, which first marked a woman doing the work.
