Fruiterer

A fruiterer sold fresh fruit from a shop or stall; the word is mainly British and Australian and close to greengrocer.

Middle English fruiterer meant a fruit grower or a fruit dealer, and the modern word means one who sells fruit. In Britain and Australia a shop selling fruit and vegetables may be called either a greengrocer or a fruiterer.

In the United States the same trade was usually called a produce store or produce shop.
