Livery stable keeper
A livery stable keeper ran a stable that rented horses, carriages and wagons and boarded other people's horses.
In North America a livery stable was a stable where horses, teams and vehicles could be hired by the day, and where travelers and townspeople could board their own horses. Nearly every town had one.
The business faded quickly after about 1910, as automobiles replaced horses for hire.
