Manufactures schedule

The manufactures schedule, called Products of Industry in 1850 to 1870, recorded each mill or workshop by owner, with capital, workers, wages and output.

Surviving manufacturing schedules exist for 1820 and 1850 to 1880. They name the owner or company and give capital invested, raw materials, power used, number of hands and their wages, and the kind and value of goods made.

Shops producing less than $500 worth a year were not included, so a small blacksmith may be missing. In 1880 special schedules covered some trades, such as boot and shoemaking, lumber mills and flour mills.
