Totgeburt

Totgeburt means a stillbirth, and totgeboren (old spelling todtgeboren) means stillborn: a child born dead.

A stillborn child may appear in the baptism register with a note, only in the burial register, or not at all, so search both registers around the date.

The spelling with dt, todtgeboren, is common in older records. The entry may give only the father's name and ein totgeborener Sohn or eine totgeborene Tochter.
