habitans

Habitans is Latin for living or residing, used to give where someone lived, as in habitans in pago, living in the village.

Habitans is the present participle of habitare, to live or dwell. Registers use it to state where a person lived at the time of the entry.

Where someone lived is not the same as where they were born, which is often given with natus or oriundus. If the two differ, the family moved, and the birthplace sends you to another parish register.
