puerpera

Puerpera is Latin for a woman in childbed, one in labor or recently delivered of a child.

Puerpera joins puer (child) and pario (to bear). Wiktionary gives woman in labor, woman in childbed and lying-in woman.

In a burial entry, puerpera beside a woman's name means she died in or soon after childbirth. Look for the baptism or burial of a child a few days earlier.
