pupillus
Pupillus is Latin for an orphan or ward, a minor placed under a guardian (tutor).
Lewis and Short defines pupillus as an orphan boy, an orphan, and also a ward, and points to tutor and tutela. In law the pupillus is the minor; the tutor is the guardian.
When a will, sale or guardianship record names pupilli, it means children whose property someone else managed. Such a record may name the children and their guardian, so it can help you complete a family.
