socer
Socer is Latin for father-in-law, the father of one's wife or husband.
Socer means father-in-law. Grandparents often stood as sponsors, so a baptism may describe the sponsor as the socer of the child's father.
The word links two families: if the socer is named, you have the wife's maiden name and her father's first name in one line.
As seen in a recordSponsor in a Latin baptism entry
patrinus: Andreas Roth, socer patris
