venator
Venator is Latin for a hunter; venatoris after a man's name means he was a hunter.
Venator means hunter, from venor, to hunt. The feminine is venatrix.
In a register it is a trade word like any other, and venatoris after a father's name gives his trade. Other records in the local language can tell you more about where and for whom he worked.
