udflyttet

Udflyttet (modern utflyttet) means "moved out"; Norwegian church books list people leaving the parish with the date, age and new parish.

From 1814 the printed church books had a section for departures, the afgangslister, giving the date, name, age and the parish the person moved to. These lists exist mostly from 1814 to 1875, with some earlier ones.

When a family left to emigrate, the departure list often shows the whole family leaving for America, and it may mention the certificate the priest gave them. NAOB marks utflytte, to move out, as an old-fashioned word.
