czerwiec
Czerwiec is Polish for June; in a written date it appears as czerwca, "of June," as in dnia trzynastego czerwca, on June 13.
Czerwiec is June. The name comes from czerw, grub or larva, either because insects appear at that time of year or because people gathered insects for red dye then. In dates it takes the genitive form czerwca: dnia trzynastego czerwca, on the thirteenth of June.
Czerwca and lipca, July, end the same way and sit next to each other in the calendar, so read the first letters carefully. The Roman numeral for June is VI, as in 13.VI.1864.
