Supplemental schedule
In the 1890 census a supplemental schedule was an extra form for people who were sick, disabled, prisoners, paupers or homeless children.
The 1890 population schedule asked whether a person had an acute or chronic disease, a defect of mind, sight, hearing or speech, or was crippled, and whether the person was a prisoner, convict, homeless child or pauper. If so, question 25 gave the number and page of the supplemental schedule holding the details.
The 1890 records were almost all lost after the 1921 fire, and the supplemental schedules are not among the surviving parts NARA lists.
