Yearly meeting
A yearly meeting is a large Quaker body, such as Philadelphia or New England Yearly Meeting, that meets annually and sets the discipline for its monthly meetings.
Yearly meetings are self-governing. They gather for several days each year, write the book of discipline, receive reports from quarterly meetings and handle appeals.
Knowing the yearly meeting matters because the 1827 separation and later splits divided whole yearly meetings, and each branch kept its own records.
