coelebs

Coelebs (caelebs) is Latin for "unmarried" or "bachelor"; in a marriage or burial entry it marks a man who had never married.

Coelebs, also spelled caelebs, means unmarried and is usually used of a man. A marriage entry that calls the groom coelebs tells you it was his first marriage.

In a burial entry coelebs tells you there will be no widow and probably no children, so you can stop searching for them.
