conjux

Conjux (also coniux, plural conjuges) is Latin for spouse, husband or wife; conjuges means a married couple.

Conjux means spouse and can refer to a husband or a wife; the plural conjuges means a married couple. Spelling varies: coniux, conjunx and coniunx are the same word.

In baptism entries the parents may be called conjuges, a short way of saying the child was born to a married couple. In burial entries a widow may be described as the conjux of the late husband.
