Latin in records · card G

glos

Glos is Latin for a sister-in-law: classically the husband's sister, and in later Latin also the brother's wife.

Glos is a rare but exact kinship word. In classical Latin it names the sister of a woman's husband. Wiktionary notes that in Late and Medieval Latin it could also mean the wife of one's brother, so read the rest of the entry to see which tie is meant.

The genitive is gloris. It is the female match of levir, the husband's brother.
