infans
Infans is Latin for "infant" or "child": in a burial register it marks a very young child.
Infans means infant. Burial entries often give only infans and the father's name, as in infans Petri Miller, especially when the child died before or soon after baptism.
These short entries are easy to overlook but can explain gaps in a family. If a child appears in baptisms but never again, check the burials for infans with the father's name around the same time.
As seen in a recordBurial entry in a Latin register
Sepultus est infans Petri Miller, 3 dierum
