peregrinus
Peregrinus is Latin for a foreigner, traveler or pilgrim, someone from outside the parish.
Peregrinus means foreign as an adjective and, as a noun, a foreigner, a traveler, a wanderer or a pilgrim. Medieval writers also spelled it pelegrinus.
In a burial or baptism entry it marks a person who did not belong to the parish. The entry may name a home place; if it does, search that parish for the earlier records.
