postridie

Postridie is Latin for on the following day, the day after; registers use it to give a burial or baptism date one day after the event named before it.

Postridie means on the next day, and pairs with pridie, on the day before. A priest wrote it to save writing a full date, so the date depends on the day just named in the entry.

A common pattern is natus die 3, baptizatus postridie: born on the 3rd, baptized on the 4th. If you index the record, always turn postridie into the real date so the link to the previous date is not lost.
