parafia

Parafia is Polish for "parish," the church district whose priest kept the register; parafii means "of the parish" or "in the parish."

Parafia is a parish, and parafii is the genitive and locative form, so you see it in phrases like parafii tutejszej, of this parish. The parish priest is proboszcz, and the parish church is kościół parafialny.

A parish could cover several villages. The village where the family lived is often written in the margin, with a number showing the entry's place in that year's parish register. Look up your village in a gazetteer to find which parish served it in the year you need.
