Swedish words in old records · card F

född

Född is Swedish for "born"; in birth books and household examination rolls it introduces a person's birth date and parish.

Född is the past participle of föda, to give birth, and födelse means birth. Swedish birth and baptism books give the date of birth and then the baptism, and household examination rolls repeat the birth date and birthplace for every person, often shortened to f.

Look at the birthplace column carefully. It names the parish of birth, which is where to find the original birth entry, and it may not be the parish where the roll was kept.
