gift
Gift in Swedish records means "married"; g.m. is gift med, married to. In other contexts the same word means poison.
In household rolls a marriage is noted with gift, or g., and a date, and g.m. means married to. Giftermål is marriage, and gift 2:o means married a second time.
Swedish gift also means poison, and in old Swedish a gift, but in a column of personal details it is always marital status. Its opposite is ogift, unmarried.
